- Do I have to sign a contract?
No you don't need sign a written contract with Boutique Host. All hosting packages are purchased on a month-to-month basis. However, customers are bound by our Acceptable Usage Policy and Terms of Service.

- When is the billing of the account?
Billing occurs on the aniversary each month of your sign up date. So if you signed up on the 21st of the month, you would be charged for that month in advance, and then be charged again 1 month later (probably on the 21st again).

- Is my access 24 hours a day?
Yes. Your website will be available 24 hours a day (7 days a week), as will your control panel, and technical support.

- What happens if I use more than my allocated bandwidth?
You will be notified, and your can purchase additional bandwidth at $2 for 1000 meg. Alternatively, you can upgrade your plan which will include more bandwidth.

- How long does it take to get an account set up?
We manually pre-screen all sign-ups to ensure that spammers are not signing up for accounts that would be detrimental to the server. This means that it may take up to 24 hours (48 hours in exceptional circumstances) for account set-up. The average time is around 8 hours.

- What support do you offer?
We offer 24/7 technical support via the helpdesk. You also can contact your hosting manager directly via e-mail if you need to escalate any problems.

- Do you sell dedicated servers?
No we do not sell dedicated servers. Our complex web hosting system requires a single hosting account to have information stored on 8 different servers to provide the ultimate redundancy. Consequently this cannot be integrated into a dedicated server system as they exist on a single level (and have a single point of failure!).

- Do you support Microsoft Frontpage Extensions?
Yes all accounts support Frontpage extensions. If you want these to be included in your account on sign-up, please indicate this in the comments box. While these are not set-up as default on the accounts, you can add them at any time by submitting a trouble ticket.

- Do you host sub domains?
Yes you can have subdomains. However because of our complex DNS system, you have to request these by submitting a ticket to the help desk. There is no charge for sub-domains up to 20 subdomains. After 20, there is a set-up fee of $2 per subdomain.

- So what is this website insurance thing?
Website insurance is a system we have developed whereby your server is monitored every 5 minutes. If the server goes down for any reason, we switch your IP associated with your domain name to point to a new server on another network in another datacenter.
This other server is considered to be your backup web space. It has exactly the same features as your main web space, except it has less space. It is however possible to maintain two exact copies of your website on both servers and the visitor would not know the difference.
If you have a complex or very large site, you may just want to have set up a page on this server that tells the user that your site is undergoing maintenance, and to check back shortly. This allows you to effectively have your site "up" at all times, even if it is in a smaller version.
Your email uses a different system, which simply holds the mail on a second mail server until your main mail server comes online again.
